About Me

Hi, I’m Áine.

I am Irish and have also lived in New York for a period of time. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and fully comply with BACP’s ethical standards and guidelines.

My experience

I have over 13 year’s experience in counselling and coaching adults and young people. I run my Private Practice from Guildford where I do face to face work as well as Herne Hill/Brixton where I offer ‘walk and talk’ sessions in this area. I offer online zoom sessions to anyone in the UK. In addition to my private practice, I have experience of working in educational settings including universities and schools. I work with a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, body image issues, self harm, gender identity, relationship issues, perfectionism and managing OCD.

My core training and main approach is in Gestalt, however, I integrate other models and techniques into my work.

The gestalt approach focuses on the ‘here and now’ (the present) and through this, the client gains awareness and insight into his/her own processes/ways of being.  Some of these patterns keep us from moving forward in our lives creating a sense of ‘stuckness’.   Have you ever noticed repeating patterns in your life?

For some people, gaining awareness can enable them to change their approach to a situation, relationship or past events.  Gestalt is a rich therapy and embraces diversity recognising that each individual is unique based on their own unique experiences around culture, race, gender, sexual identity, religion, family culture and socio-economic backgrounds.  We are all unique, we are all different.  Gestalt is a person centred approach.
